Urovo OS Updates

Modified on Wed, 18 Sep at 3:45 PM

Overview

There is a necessity to update the operating system of the entire Kazang Urovo base. This document describes the process that must be followed for over the air updates. Note that the process used within Business Support where an SD Card is used for the update process does the same thing as this process. The OTA process is only for devices in the field.

Urovo Over the Air (OTA) Operating System Updates

KMS

To perform an OTA update of the OS, a specific version of the KMS app must be installed in the Urovo devices. This version is KMS (v53_V2). This version of KMS has been pushed to all devices in the field and must be pre-installed in all devices during the prepping and repair processes at the Business Support Centres. In some cases, the OTA updates do not work and the app will then have to be manually downloaded and installed from the app centre on the device. When logging into the app centre, the KMS (v53_V2) app will display a download option. This option must be selected, downloaded and installed on the device.

In some instances, the KMS app cannot be downloaded or will be unresponsive when clicking download, in such an instance, please navigate and select the “Set” option on the AppMarket and then select Uninstall Applications, in this page you should uninstall any existing KMS apps and then reinstall the application afresh.

KP App version 1.1.95

Once the correct version of KMS has been installed, the KP app 1.1.95 must be installed. Devices that are on different KP app versions, will show the “Upgrade” option. The KP app can be upgraded manually by selecting the upgrade option. In some cases, the app would have automatically been installed.
